A Message from Carol Duan, Former Chinatown Branch Manager: "A Toast to Our Friends!" Thirty wonderful years have arrived and we send our gratitude for your loyal support of the Chinatown Branch Library. We have accomplished much as different entities, yet our shared vision has helped millions of patrons of all ages. "Here is to friendship: One soul in two bodies" We look forward to more years of enhancing library services in Chinatown. Our energetic, creative staff and friends are serving a city with emerging needs. We wish to sustain our outreach services, maintain various collections and meet new challenges. Your support of three endowments, Children's Books and Programs, Chinese Heritage Collection, Homework Center, and other Areas of Greatest Need will further our mission. Some current highlights include:
As the second busiest branch library welcomes the thousands of users through its doors daily, your continued support of any of the above areas will collectively bring the best of library services to a deserving community. Together, we do make a difference! "Here is a toast to the future, A toast to the past, And a toast to our friends, far and near. May the future be pleasant; the past a bright dream; May our friends remain faithful and dear." Quoted from "10,000 Jokes, Toasts and Stories," edited by Lewis & Faye Copeland You are welcome to come visit the newest building in Chinatown, the Chinatown Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library located at 639 North Hill Street. The new beautiful building was completed on February 6, 2003 after 26 years of working toward this goal. The community and the Friends helped in this enormous project. The new library building is filled with natural light flowing from the large windows. The librarians and staff members are very friendly and helpful. We appreciate their dedication to help people in the community. To learn more about the Chinatown Branch Library on the internet, go to their link at The Los Angeles Public Library www.lapl.org. .
